Terms of Use

Last updated: September 30, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the TransLite macOS application and the website translite.app (together, the “Service”), operated by an independent developer (“we”, “us”). By downloading, installing, or using TransLite, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

TransLite is a menubar app that translates and improves text using AI language models. Translations are generated by third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI and Anthropic), either through our API or directly with your own API key.

2. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use TransLite on Macs you own or control, for your own use. You may not:

  • copy, modify, distribute, sell, or sublicense the app or any part of it;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
  • share, resell, or publish license keys.

TransLite is proprietary software. All rights are reserved.

3. Free plan

The Free plan includes a limited number of translations per day with a per-translation character limit. We may adjust these limits at any time to keep the free tier sustainable. Circumventing quota enforcement (for example, by resetting device identifiers) is a violation of these Terms.

4. Paid plans and billing

  • Paid plans (subscriptions and lifetime licenses) are sold through our merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy, under its own terms of sale.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the Lemon Squeezy customer portal linked in your purchase receipt; access continues until the end of the paid period.
  • Prices may change; changes apply to renewals after reasonable notice, never retroactively.
  • If you believe a purchase was made in error, contact us and we will work it out — refund requests are handled case by case through Lemon Squeezy.

5. Bring your own key

If you use TransLite with your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key, you are responsible for that key, for the usage costs it incurs, and for complying with the provider’s own terms of service. We are not a party to your relationship with those providers.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • violate any applicable law or the rights of others;
  • probe, overload, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our infrastructure;
  • abuse the translation API, including automated bulk usage designed to evade plan limits;
  • generate content that violates the acceptable-use policies of the underlying AI providers.

7. AI-generated content

Translations and text improvements are generated by AI models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your context. You are responsible for reviewing output before relying on it, especially for legal, medical, financial, or other consequential uses. To the extent permitted by law, you own the output generated from your input.

8. Third-party services

The Service depends on third-party providers (AI providers, Cloudflare, Lemon Squeezy, GitHub). We are not responsible for interruptions or changes caused by those providers, though we will make reasonable efforts to keep the Service working.

9. Availability and changes

We may update, change, or discontinue features of the Service at any time. We aim to keep TransLite available and reliable, but the Service is provided without uptime guarantees.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or any loss of data, profits, or business, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose (or €10 if you use the Free plan).

12. Termination

You can stop using TransLite at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service (including revoking license keys) if you materially breach these Terms.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.
